Homeschooling are for parents who are willing and committed, so please leave the politics alone….everything we do in this world is only accomplished and successful when we are committed to go all the way to the end, and nowadays everything is available, books, internet, $2 shops second hand shops for stuff..so forth…I’m a first time homeschooler and I do it because I am willing…now stop criticsm everyone, just enjoy the video…

@plutogirllovekj Wow, you don’t sound ignorant or elitist at all. XD Public schools are fine, it really depends on the child and the teacher when it comes to how successful schooling can be. BTW, not everyone who goes to public is poor or “minority”. Also, how can you know jack shit about homeschooling and public schools when you haven’t experienced it yourself? XD Homeschooling is not the magic solution.

Sing, Spell, Read & Write is by far the BEST way to teach your kids to read. Homeschoolers agree on this!

@FUCKyourGODmyth Home schoolers score higher than kids who attend blighted public schools. What mother or father in their right mind would send their innocent children to a public school? I attended private schools, but when I have children I will definitely home school them. Most public schools aren’t fit for dogs, let alone innocent children. I feel so sorry for poor and minority children that are trapped in that system, God help them. Use of vulgarity is just lazy attention seeking!

@Chaaarge — ” I think plenty of parents could make just as good teachers as any public school teacher as long as they know what they’re doing “

Most parents might also be good mechanics….as long as they know what they’re doing. But why don’t most people do their own auto repair? Because most people wouldn’t have a clue!

And that’s my point! Most parents don’t have a clue, and that’s why we have schools. Kids being denied professional instruction is akin to neglect and abuse.

@FUCKyourGODmyth what does that have to do with homeschooling? I don’t even follow a religion so I don’t believe in jesus or god. The earth is estimated to be about 4.5 billion years old. I think plenty of parents could make just as good teachers as any public school teacher as long as they know what they’re doing. If their kids pass exams, SAT:s etc… it’s all good. I do however, understand that homeschooling is dominated by evangelicals, but that doesn’t mean atheists can’t do it.

@FUCKyourGODmyth Yes he was and the earth is about 4.5 billion years old. The idea that the earth is only 6000 years old is a misinterpretation of biblical geneology. Ask any Orthodox Christian and their view does not go against modern scientific understanding. You assume all Christians are ignorant of science and you assume we are not college educated. You assume wrong.

    Two questions for homeschooling advocates:

Was Jesus resurrected from the dead?

    How old is the earth?

The only problem with online school is this:

It isn’t homeschooling. Its Public School at home.

Homeschooling is about the child being the centre, and learning according to their needs. Public school is about one giant organisation mass-producing educated humans. Its about number crunching. Thats why so many get left behind. There’s no time for the incidental learning that can occur in a relaxed environment (it doesn’t have to be home- Montessori and Sudbury schools are great)

Not all parents can stay home with their kids, and not all kids can concentrate on a screen-based curriculum, some NEED the instruction (though many don’t, if the reading material is clear enough).

@pdxeddie1111 There is already a public online service called K12 – they provide all the curriculum and the teaching, but the parent has no control over the child’s learning experience. The point of home schooling is to give an alternative to public school. Many teaching parents do not want the type of curriculum they offer or the liberal slant in the content or perhaps they think their children would benefit from a more free-style, open type of self-directed earning.
